Today’s post looks at a true kitchen design classic; the Shaker. Richmond Ivory, one of many aspirational design created by Omega Kitchens, has Shaker style doors with solid ash frames and comes in a painted finish with chamfered beading. We really like the subtle Suite 83 handles - pewter, pointed, and ribbed - with their pleasing bow form and filigree detailing.

Shaker Kitchen

This level of attention to detail is key when working with such a traditional and timeless style. Accessories, such as feature pilasters, can transform your Shaker design, and add a touch of luxury and real individual personality to an already distinctive kitchen.

Omega Kitchens, manufactured in a modern, purpose-built factory in South Yorkshire, are justifiably proud of their British heritage and have earned a reputation for producing thoroughly modern kitchens with the latest innovations, designs, and features. With an extensive selection of finishing touches, every kitchen can be tailored to your taste and lifestyle.

Shaker is one of the most flexible door styles available. Handle selection and accessories can change a Shaker kitchen from a modern to a traditional style; and designs can be enhanced by using a variety of different cornice and pelmets.

Omega’s range is also available in a wide range of colours and woodgrains, so try mixing colours and textures when creating your dream kitchen. Omega’s Shaker Wood Painted collection as featured here comes six natural, elegant shades: Blue, White, Green, Ivory, Grey and Oyster. These have been carefully selected to allow limitless colour creativity. What’s more, these tones also complement many of Porcelain Superstore’s most appealing tile ranges.

The featured kitchen uses and elongated tiled splashback in neutral earth colours: subtle, understated, and timeless. But pairing different tile designs with this Shaker kitchen will radically alter the mood and impact.

Urban Style

Brix Red

For an urban apartment, think about Brix Red. Inspired by the raw look of exposed brick walls found in old factories, lofts, and warehouses, these ‘bricks’ – 70 by 310mm - are actually made from easy-care porcelain. They will add a dynamic industrial twist to the Shaker look. Just add exposed light bulbs, and reclaimed furniture, to really shake up your Shaker.

Bold Colour

This kitchen can also take bold colour in its stride. We would love to pair it with our achingly chic Marais Green; a 65 by 200mm ceramic tile that delivers a Victorian-style flourish to your splashback. Inspired by the historic Le Marais district in Paris, these tiles ooze old world elegance, yet they’re thoroughly modern. The deep green tones, rippled surface, and gloss finish will certainly add a touch of class to this Shaker kitchen. Ooh La La!

Swoon Style

Drops Persian Blue

Combine colour with a dramatic shape, and this kitchen is taken in a whole new direction. Step forward Drops Persian Blue! This tile echoes the curves of the cabinetry with its fabulous fish-scale form, inspired by classic Moroccan fan tiles. Use this as your Shaker splashback and the luscious layers of gloss blue glaze will take your kitchen from simple to swoon-worthy in a second.

Timeless Pattern

And one final idea for the perfect tile for this timeless design. While a modern glazed chevron or metro would both work, we think that this kitchen could really frame a pattern. Coming in at 200 by 200mm, the small but perfectly formed Maison Classic draws inspiration from French designs of the 1900s. The contemporary grey colourway adds a sophisticated touch to the Shaker vibe. And, being made from hardy porcelain, this splashback is not only elegant but also eminently practical. Food for thought, as they say!
