Description

When mixed with sharp sand and water, ProPave Mortar produces a high strength bedding mortar that is perfect for natural stone and porcelain pavers.

✔ Fibre-modified cement binder
✔ Maintains porosity to aid drainage
✔ Added strength and durability

This mortar is the first stage of our ProPave External Tiling System, which also consists of ProPave External Grouts and Slurry Primer.

How to use

The ideal sub-base for porcelain pavers is 100mm of compacted MOT Type 1. A minimum 30mm layer of ProPave Mortar and sharp sand must be applied, before tiles are laid.

We recommend that ProPave Mortar, sharp sand and water are mixed together using a mechanical mixer. The mortar should hold together when formed into a ball. If you are mixing by hand, then dry mix thoroughly before slowly adding water.

Once the mortar has been mixed, you can lay onto the compacted MOT sub-base. The underside of porcelain pavers should be primed with slurry primer and laid onto the mortar, ensuring wet on wet contact.

The recommended mix ratio is:

6:1 sharp sand to mortar, for domestic patios
4:1 sharp sand to mortar, for driveways and paths

Coverage

Coverage does vary and is dependant on the thickness of the mortar bed, the aggregate used and the ratio mix.

As an example, with a 4:1 ratio, a 30mm layer of ProPave Mortar will cover 1.65m² per 20kg bag.
