Lighter shades create extremely inviting bathrooms. According to one of the premier brands, Duravit, Off White has become increasingly more popular as shade within the bathroom. This mixture of white and gentle beige creates a modern, urban feel.

Duravit Viu Bathroom

Duravit uses shades of white for its new Viu/Xviu, and Happy D.2 Plus, bathroom ranges. This subtle, understated look creates incredible scope for domestic creativity. In our opinion, Duravit’s new Viu ceramics series, and the XViu bathroom furniture range from Sieger Design – both shown above – point to the future for minimalist designer bathrooms. The post-industrial elegance of the furniture really amplifies the softer, organic forms of washbasin and bath.

How To Get The Look

This combination of light and dark styling can be created through the selection of appropriate colours; such as the contrast of matt black profiles with light shades; while champagne-coloured profiles paired with white surfaces give the bathroom a more gentle air.

Terrazzo Tiles

And to complete the look, why not pair this off white sanitaryware with one of our superb terrazzo-effect tiles, such as Tutti Frutti, shown left? This playful take on the terrazzo look was inspired by the colourful confectionery and features a rainbow of bold chips, set against a plain white background. These 185 by 185 by 10mm Spanish porcelain tiles will make an ideal complement to the off white elements of the Viu bathroom.

Portico

If you are seeking a terrazzo-look with more authority and drama, then we’d recommend our new Portico tiles, above right. They’re based on the terrazzo found in the network of covered arcades that line Bologna’s main streets. Portico delivers a kaleidoscopic floor of speckled colour that will really make your bathroom turn heads. Made from porcelain, Portico is also versatile and ideal over underfloor heating. These 10mm thick tiles measure 452 by 452mm; a format that works equally well in bathrooms large and small.

Purity Of Marble

Duravit Viu is, of course, a fantastic range for those seeking the boutique hotel aesthetic. Our floor tiles can take it in many directions, while still preserving the clean minimalist feel. A great partner would be our Celine White floor tiles.

Celine White

These 320 by 625mm beauties deliver opulence with a contemporary edge by teaming the exquisite splendour of marble with the purity of porcelain. Calacatta-inspired, Celine White features dreamy grey veins set against a white background. The tile-to-tile variety – subtle and controlled – adds just the light amount of vibrancy to really set off the Viu range.

Urban Concrete

However, Viu can also take a more urban, masculine direction when set against a stronger neutral tile, such as our Cemento Mid Grey. Fantastic value-for-money, Cemento will give you the on-trend polished concrete look at a fraction of the price. Hardwearing and easy to maintain, the two grey tones come in three contemporary sizes, including a large-format 750 by 750mm square, making this a supremely versatile range for any shape of bathroom.
