Our Cement Backer Boards are the perfect material to tile onto, as they’re extremely strong and won’t rot, swell, or warp. They can be used to strengthen timber floors, helping to remove any bounce and reduce the chance of tiles cracking. They can also be used to overboard concrete floors and stud walls.

At just 6mm thick, they will provide the same rigidity as traditional 18mm plywood without the additional floor build up. And unlike wood, they are water resistant and won’t expand even when very wet.

How to use

Cement backer boards must be fixed to timber floors using the screws and adhesive. Run a bead of adhesive all around the board and a further two beads down the centre and fit in place, then secure each board with 15 screws. Run a bead of adhesive along each board edge before placing the next board, to reinforce and waterproof the joints.

Boards should be primed before tiling using Prime Plus. They can be cut either with a scoring knife or circular saw with PCD blade.
