Lightweight and easy-to-use, these tile backing boards are the ideal substrate for many wall and floor tiling projects. Manufactured using high-density extruded polystyrene with a reinforced cement coating, they offer numerous advantages over plywood and other materials.
✔ Excellent insulating properties
✔ Will enhance electric underfloor heating systems
✔ Resistant to water
✔ Can be used in wet areas eg. showers and pools
✔ Offer excellent impact strength, sound reduction and fire resistance
✔ Quick and easy to install
✔ Low weight so easy to carry
These 6mm construction boards can be fixed to both walls and floors. Always stagger the joints of the boards and leave a 5mm gap around the perimeter of the room.
Timber Floors
Boards can be fixed using either flexible tile adhesive or the dedicated washers together with conventional screws. If using washers and screws, placed a washer under the screwhead and tighten the screw until the washer bites into the board. You will need to use 15 screws per board.
Concrete Floors
New concrete must be fully cured. Always seal the concrete with primer, before fixing the boards with a full bed of flexible tile adhesive. Use an 8mm notched trowel to apply the adhesive.
Stud Walls
Ensure the timber studs are set to 300mm centres and fix using screws and washers, as above. The board edges must be supported by noggins.
Brick/Block Walls
Boards can be fixed using a full bed of tile adhesive, as above.
Each board will cover 0.72 m2
We offer free kerbside delivery on most orders over £500 – quick, convenient and you can even choose a delivery day that suits you – up to three months in advance.
If your order is under £500, delivery is £15 for lighter parcel orders (under 18kg) and £36 for heavier pallet orders.
Most orders arrive in just two working days, and if you order before 11pm, we’ll get everything moving right away.
A few remote areas, like the Scottish Highlands or Channel Islands, may have extra charges – but we’ll always let you know before you check out.
Returns
We’re confident you’ll love your new purchases – but if things don’t work out, our 100-day returns policy gives you plenty of time to change your mind.
You can return your full order for a refund anytime within 100 days of delivery, as long as everything is unused and in its original packaging.
Just so you know – we can only accept full returns. If your order includes tiles, we’re not able to take back part-orders or leftover boxes.
